Course Learning Outcome 3

“Negotiate your writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of genre, medium, and rhetorical situation.”

During the course of writing any technical document when the purpose and audience have been determined, structuring the document requires finesse. Depending on the audience the way the purpose is presented changes. In my technical description, my audience was primarily patients who have undergone treatment with sonogram. Although my audience could have been broadened, my use of terms was at a level that could be understood by individuals that did not have a scientific background. While it may not be directed to those with scientific background, the information I provided was accurate and would be directed to a wider audience.
